Blogs and Week 5

I have graded your blogs!! Excellent job you all!! You have officially created a website!!!! Its official that you can no longer say that you aren't technologically savvy. Erase that from your mental lexicon.
I am going to grade revisons and last weeks' discussion this week (after I meet a deadline of my own with my dissertation).
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions that you may have.
This week:
  • Participate in the discussion
  • Finish up your Video projects
  • Make any revisions that you'd like to see me check.
  • Don't Panic
  • Watch out for April Fools Jokes on Wednesday (not from me.. just in general)
Have a great week all!

Week 3 Discussions Graded

Please feel free to continue any discussions you're having, but I have graded your contributions. You guys are awesome!! Keep up the good work. I hope you're seeing the value of these discussions. You can learn a good bit from me and the content of the course, but your classmates are also a rich resource!! I hope that you'll take the time to invest in these discussions.

I'm working on my dissertation and facing some big deadlines, but my goal is to have your blog feedback to you by the end of the week.

I hope you're having a good one!! (Tomorrow's hump day!! You're going to make it!)

Don't Panic!

Weeks 4 & 5

Thank you all for getting things off to such a good start! I hope that the class is going well for you and you're enjoying yourself. I'm going to be spending this week getting your next discussion and your blogs graded so that you can get some feedback quickly.
I've opened up the next 2 weeks' modules. We're going to be using and making videos in the classroom!!
This week:
  • Go ahead and check out the intro video, the readings and materials
  • Participate in the discussion for this week
  • Get started playing around with the video editor of your choosing
Don't forget to ask if you have any questions. I hope you all have a wonderful week!!

Finally we are at week 3

First:

These terms with breaks are always so weird because it messes up our groove right there at the beginning. I do hope you guys had a great break and are ready to knock out this last part of the year!! We're going to bring it home to the summer and going to have a wonderful time doing it!

You'll notice that I graded your first discussion and there is a whole bunch of feedback. Don't worry, I won't be putting that much in for every assignment. (not only is an awful amount for you to read, it takes me forever to grade) Some of it is just information that I wanted to tell you to clarify my expectations for the discussions and other is information about how you can improve this and future discussions.

Remember that your discussions and every other assignment is open for revisions. You will always (until the end of the course) have the opportunity for revisions. *except late penalties

Just to reiterate: The discussions are the most important part of this class. You can learn some from the course just by yourself, but when you guys learn from the material, the videos, your experiences, your ideas, and your questions then you will learn so much more!! The only thing is that this kind of learning requires you to ask questions (of each other), challenge each others' assumptions, and invest in these conversations. Just have a good time talking about what you're learning and this field of education that you're so passionate about!!

ok.. so the next thing is whats happening this week:
  1. Participate in this week's discussion. Remember that your original post is due Wednesday. If you've already submitted yours but noticed something that you can change based on my feedback then please feel free to edit your posts.
  2. Submit your blog, write your reflection, check out each others' work, and give meaningful/helpful/constructive(maybe critical but make sure it is constructive) feedback.
  3. Don't Panic :)
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about anything!! Thanks to all of you who are using the open forums!! I'm glad that you're able to get some great information to and from each other. Everyone else make sure you are subscribed to the open forum if you aren't already!

Have a great week!!

Spring Break!!

So I want you all to have a great Spring Break! I hope you can catch your breath and get some well deserved rest. Please do take a bit to work on your Blogs and take a good look at the things your classmates have said in the discussions so far. Remember that you will get more out of the conversations that you put more into!

Have a wonderful week and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!!

Are you ready!?

Here we go!! We are going to dive right in with a project where you will make a website/blog. Please go ahead and check out the week 2 module. Be sure to watch the video so that we're on the same page. I'm very excited for all to get into this course!!

Here's a few things to remember:

  1. Please make sure you subscribe to the Open Forum if you haven't already don’t that.
  2. Make sure you don't struggle for too long without asking questions. That’s the recipe for panic and for frustration. Ask questions!! We're all here to help! Email me or ask in the open forum!!
  3. Do not wait until the last minute to get started on things.
  4. This is not a log in 1 time on Sunday afternoon course. Please make sure you are aware of due dates and the weekly schedules.

Ok, enough housekeeping. This week you will:

  1. Check out the video, the readings, and the materials for weeks 2 and 3
  2. Participate in the weekly discussion. Remember to write like you're in grad school and not like you're on facebook.
  3. Fill out the Just In Time (JIT) survey. **Its very short but very very very important**
  4. Get started playing with blogger.com
  5. I hope you have a wonderful week and please let me know if you need anything!!

Remember: DON'T PANIC!!!
